Favourite Reads of Summer 2020!

I think we can all agree that this summer has been an odd one having to deal with COVID and not being able to go away on holiday (not like I do that anyway haha) but I will say that all of this time at home has given me ample opportunity to read! I have still been working throughout the chaos that is 2020 but I’ve really appreciated the downtime that I’ve had as well and have devoted much of it to ticking off books on my TBR.
For the purposes of narrowing down the list (because I have read so many great books), it will cover what I’ve read in June - August which means I have 24 books to choose from! Everything listed will be in the order in which I read them since I simply wouldn’t be able to rank them all right now haha.
So let’s dive on in!

It would appear that half of what I read this summer are books that I really loved. Regardless of star ratings since these range from 3-5 star reads, they are ones that I had the best time reading and the most connection with. It also does not surprise me that so many of these are from the same series/authors since I did a little binging haha.
3 of the books are historical romances by Tessa Dare
5 of the books are installments from the Veronica Speedwell Mystery series by Deanna Raybourn
1 book is a piece of classic literature
1 book is a WWII historical fiction
2 of the books are contemporary ‘chick-lit’
I have definitely noticed that this year I have been reading a lot more from the contemporary and romance genres than I ever have before which is shocking to me but I really have been enjoying them. I still have very particular tastes in the contemporaries that I read though. Also with the romances, I am obsessed with historical fiction so historical romance isn’t actually that big of a stretch from my norm.
I hope that your summer reading was also exceptional and that maybe you found some new favourites too!
